Weekend With My Sister

Hey guys, how are you all doing?? You know, Christmas is coming and it’s always very busy before Christmas. At the university I had many presentations, homeworks, tests and also nowadays it’s the busiest period in my work, so not many interesting things have happened in the last days.

However, my sister came to visit me here in the middle of November and it was really nice. She had never visited the Netherlands before, so it was her first Dutch experience 🙂

Ahoj všichni, jak se máte?? Víte jak to je, Vánoce přicházejí a tím pádem je toho teď hodně. Běhen posledních dní jsem měla ve škole hodně prezentací, úkolů, testů a taky toto je nejšílenější období v práci, takže se teď u mě nedělo hodně zajímavých věcí.

Nicméně někdy v polovině listopadu mě tady přijela navštívit sestra a bylo to super. Ona nikdy nebyla v Nizozemsku, takže to byla její první holandská zkušenost 🙂

Do you know the feelings when you live abroad and somebody from your friends or family comes to visit you?? For me it’s always nice! I like showing them how I live abroad and places where I spend my time, so that when I talk about them the next time, they can imagine how it looks like.

Znáte ten pocit, když žijete v zahraničí a někdo z vašich přátel nebo rodiny vás přijede navštívit?? Já to mám vždycky ráda! Ráda jim ukazuji, jak žiji v cizině. Hlavně místa, kde trávím svůj čas, aby příště,když budu o těch místech mluvit, si je mohli představit.

My sister came by train on Friday to Gronigen. We met at the train station and went to the city. Eventhough it was cold, the sun was shining, thus the day was really nice. First we went to have a soup and then we started to walk through the city and I was just showing her around. It was a really nice afternoon. We were just walking with a coffee through the city, having fun, taking pictures and checking some shops. It was like a girly afternoon 🙂

Ségra přijela vlakem do Groningenu v pátek. Setkaly jsme se na vlakovém nádraží a šly jsme do centra. I když bylo chladněji, svítilo slunce,takže počasí bylo fajn. Nejdříve jsme si daly polévku a potom jsme se začaly procházet po městě a ukazovala jsem jí okolí. Bylo to fajn odpoledne. Jen tak jsme se procházely městem s kávou v ruce, bavily jsme se, fotily se a prošly nějaké obchody. Bylo to takové holčičí odpoledne 🙂

Actually, my sister told she didn’t expect Groningen being such a nice city. (Excuse me?? It really offended me! Haha) She was impressed by all the places for students and the real student’s atmosphere that one can feel in Groningen everywhere.

Dokonce mi ségra řekla, že nečekala, že by byl Groningen takové pěkné město. (Co prosím?? To mě teda urazilo! Haha) Líbily se jí všechna ta studentská místa a studentská atmosféra, která je úplně všude.

Next day we went to Amsterdam. I have to say, we couldn’thave chosen a better day for a tour through Amsterdam!! Comparing to the previous day, it was really cold and foggy. We could’t even feel our fingers how frozen they were! Actually, the temperature was not that low but the Netherlands feels always cold, because of the canals that make the high humidity here.

V sobotu jsme jeli do Amsterdamu. Musím říct, že jsme si nemohli vybrat lepší den na prohlídku Amsterdamu!! V porovnání s předešlým dnem byla zima a hodně mlhavo. Ani jsme necítili prsty z té zimy! Vlastně teplota byla docela v pohodě, ale v Nizozemsku je vždycky pocitově zima, protože tady mají všude ty kanály, které vytvářejí vlhkost ovzduší.

As we were already frozen, we decided to go for a lunch somewhere inside, where we could get warmer. We chose a first place that we liked and wasn’t full. We sat down and ordered. We were really happy to be inside till we realised that we are not getting warmer, because the door is open. Thus we asked the waitress, if we could close the door for a while, but she told: “No, it’s impossible” and opened the door even more!…well, at least the food was hot enough 😀

Když už nám byla taková zima, rozhodli jsme se jít na oběd někde dovnitř, abychom se zahřáli. Vybrali jsme si první místo, které se nám líbilo a nebylo totálně plné. Sedli jsme si a objednali nějaké jídlo. Byli jsme šťastní, že jsme byli někde uvnitř až do té doby, než jsme si uvědomili, že se vlastně vůbec nezahříváme, protože dveře jsou celou dobu otevřené. Takže jsme se zeptali servírky, jestli by mohla aspoň na chvíli zavřít ty dveře, ale ona nám řekla: „Ne, to není možné“ a ještě ty dveře více pootevřela! … no, tak aspoň to jídlo bylo dostatečně teplé 😀

However we survived the weather and saw almost all important places in Amsterdam such as the Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, main square, Red light district, Rembrand square and so on… After all it was a really nice day and I think all of us enjoyed it 🙂 … I just really prefer going to Amsterdam during summer 😀

Nicméně, počasí jsme zvládli a ještě k tomu jsme viděli skoro všechna důležitá místa, jako je například Vondelpark, Rijksmuseum, hlavní náměstí, čtvrť červených luceren, Rembrantovo náměstí a tak dále… I po tom všem to byl ale pěkný den a myslím si, že jsme si ho všichni užili 🙂 … No, ale pravda je, že do Amsterdamu raději jezdím v létě 😀

So this is my advice in the end: If you are planning to go to Amsterdam during winter, don’t forget to wear really warm clothes. It will be very useful! 😀 … Have a nice day guys <3
