Hey guys, it’s been already a week since Easter, but I was thinking that maybe you have never heard about the way the Dutch people celebrate Easter… If not then continue reading so that you can compare Easter in the Netherlands with Czech or other Easter. It’s very interesting to me that almost each country has its own Easter traditions and I always like to find out the differences 🙂
When I celebrated my first Easter in the Netherlands, I was really surprised that the Dutch people don’t have that much Easter traditions. I even heard opinions that not many Dutch people celebrate Easter. But, of course, Easter decorations are everywhere and you can buy chocolate eggs in almost every shop already so many weeks before Easter 😀

Ahoj všichni, sice už je týden po Velikonocích, ale tak mě napadlo, jestli už jste někdy slyšeli o tom, jak se slaví Velikonoce v Nizozemsku … Pokud ne, tak čtěte dál, abyste je mohli porovnat s těma Českýma anebo třeba jinýma. Je opravdu zajímavé, že skoro každá země má své vlastní tradice. Já osobně vždycky ráda zjišťuji takové informace 🙂
Když jsem tady trávila mé první Velikonoce, tak jsem byla dost překvapená, že holanďané nemají moc velikonočních tradic. Dokonce jsem slyšela názory, že hodně holanďanů vůbec Velikonoce neřeší. Ale samozřejmě, že velikonoční výzdoba je všude okolo a čokoládové vajíčka se dají koupit v každém obchodě už několik týdnů dopředu 😀
The Friday before Easter is called Good Friday, but it is still a normal working day for many people here. Sunday is called as the First Easter Day. Almost all shops and, for example, also gyms are closed on this day, but there are of course some supermarkets that are normally open. Dutch people have usually an Easter breakfast on Sunday morning. It means that, for instance, the whole family meets and enjoys a nice breakfast. You can even buy a special butter that looks like a lamb haha 😀 And also they have here paasstol. It’s a kind of sweet bread with raisins, nuts and marzipan. I really like it, but I don’t think it’s typical for Easter, because they eat it also for Christmas.

Velikonočnímu pátku tady říkají dobrý pátek, ale pro hodně lidí je tento den ještě normálně pracovní den. Neděli se v Nizozemsku říká první velikonoční den. V tento den jsou tady skoro všechny obchody a třeba taky posilovny zavřené, ale najde se i pár supermarketů, které jsou normálně otevřené. V neděli ráno mají Holanďané většinou velikonoční snídani, což znamená, že se třeba u snídaně sejde celá rodina a vychutná si společně nějakou pořádnou snídani. Dokonce se tady dá koupit i máslo ve tvaru beránka, které se používá u této snídaně 😀 A taky tady mají velikonoční štolu, což je takový sladký chleba s rozinkami, ořechy a marcipánem. To mi moc chutná, ale nepříjde mi to jako úplně typické velikonoční jídlo, protože to berou i jako typické vánoční jídlo.
Monday is called the Second Easter Day. On this day some parents hide Easter eggs for their children and say that the Easter hare has hidden it. There are also such public events for children, for instance in a park, where all the children are lookining for eggs. I really like this activity! It’s a shame that I’m not that young anymore 😀 It reminds me Easter when I was a child. We used to go to a forrest with my family and my grandmother was hiding eggs for us. It was always so much fun, because I wanted to find the white eggs 😀 … After searching for egg the families take often the children to a restaurant and this is the way the end up the Easter day.

Pondělí je druhý velikonoční den. V tento den někteří rodiče schovávají velikonoční vajíčka pro děti a říkají, že je schoval velikonoční zajíček. Taky se tady pořádají takové veřejné události pro děti, třeba v nějakém zámeckém parku, kde všechny děti najednou hledají vajíčka. Hledání vajíček se mi líbí! Škoda, že už nejsem malá 😀 Připomíná mi to Velikonoce, když jsem byla malá. Vždycky jsme chodili na Velikonoce s rodinou do lesa a babička nám schovávala vajíčka. To byla zábava, protože jsem vždycky chtěla najít bíle vajíčka 😀 … Po hledání vajíček jdou často rodiny s dětmi do nějaké restaurace a zakončí takhle velikonoční den.
I also heard something about traditional Easter fire, but it‘s more known only in the Nothern part of the Netherlands. Otherwise they don’t have such traditions in the Netherlands as in the Czech Republic. The boys don’t go to the girls with pomlázka (whip) and also they don’t bake an Easter lamb or gingerbreads. I wanted to bake at least the Easter lamb this year in the Netherlands so that I’m in the Easter mood, however, I couldn’t find any form in the shops here.
I have to say that when I was small, I didn’t really like Easter that much, but when I compare it with the Netherlands, I think it’s nice to have some special traditions like that and enjoy the day a bit differently 🙂

Ještě jsem slyšela něco o tradičním velikonočním ohni, ale to je více známé v severní části Nizozemska. Jinak v Nizozemsku nejsou takové tradice jako třeba v Česku. Chlapci tady nechodí s pomlázkou a taky tady nepečou velikonočního beránka nebo perníčky. Letos jsem si řekla, že tady upeču aspoň velikonočního beránka, ať se trochu naladím do té velikonoční nálady, ale nemohla jsem tady najít žádnou formu 🙂
Musím říct, že když jsem byla malá, tak jsem Velikonoce neměla moc ráda, ale když to tak porovnám s Nizozemskem, tak si myslím, že je fajn mít nějaké takové speciální tradice a užít si ten den trochu jinak.
My Easter was this year quite quiet. I think, It was also because of the beautiful weather. My boyfriend and I decided to enjoy the day on the beach, but when we arrived there we found out that it’s very windy. Maybe that was the reason why nobody was there 😀 that’s why we decided to go to a park, where the weather was already better. Luckily we have such a nice park nearby 🙂 We were just lying, reading and I was also doing some homeworks, because If you miss a class because of Easter, you ,of course, need to have enough homeworks for home in case that you would like to have a free day 🙂
I hope guys that by this article I have explained you a bit, how the Easter in the Netherlands look like and you can compare it with your home country. Maybe there are still some more traditions or some families have their own traditions, but this is all what I have heard about the Dutch Easter so far 🙂

Moje Velikonoce byly letos v poklidném stylu. Myslím si, že to bylo i tím skvělým až letním počasím. S přítelem jsme se rozhodli si užít tento den na pláži, ale když jsme tam dojeli, tak jsme zjistili, že je strašně větrno. Možná proto tam ani nikdo nebyl 😀 Proto jsme se rozhodli jít do parku, kde už to počasí bylo lepší. Naštěstí je kousek od nás takový hezký park 🙂 Tam jsme jenom tak leželi, četli si a já jsem dělala nějaké úkoly, protože samozřejmě když vám odpadne hodina kvůli Velikonoc, tak přece musíte dostat úkoly na doma, abyste si náhodou nechtěli udělat volný den 🙂
Doufám, že jsem vám tímto článkem trochu přiblížila, jak vypadají Velikonoce v Nizozemsku a že je třeba teď můžete porovnat s těma vašima.
